Oakland County Busted Mugshots
Booking in Oakland County runs through a handful of moving parts. The Oakland County Jail and the Sheriff's Office Corrective Services Division anchor the county's adult booking records. But the initial arrest can be made by a city officer, a township officer, a state trooper, or a sheriff's deputy. So the first paper trail may sit in a city lock-up or an arrest report rather than the county system. Once a person is actually processed into county custody, CLEMIS becomes the public's practical lookup tool. That system ties together Livescan, mugshot, PictureLink, jail management, booking, bond, and release functions, and the booking image is one piece of that whole electronic chain.
Records travel down different roads from there. An agency files an incident report. The jail opens an intake record if the person arrives. Courts later take over the case file. This split matters when a search comes up empty. A missing county result could mean the person is still in a city lock-up, was released, is awaiting processing, sits in another system, or has a restricted record. Lots of possible answers. None of them mean the arrest never happened.
The volume here is real. Oakland County logs about 12,000 new jail admissions every year. In 2024, it counted 12,247 specifically. Numbers like those explain the county's reliance on one central jail-management system. They also explain why intake, transfer, release, and public display don't always line up on the same day.
Oakland County Booking Record Fields
A CLEMIS result, paired with the related jail record, can tell you who was booked, when, and which agency holds the file. Not every field shows up for every person, though. Records can be incomplete, restricted, or mid-update. So don't lean on a name alone. Pull a date of birth, an inmate number, a booking date, or a case number into your search. Those details keep you from confusing your subject with someone else who shares the same name.
| Field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Legal name and identifier | Name plus an inmate or booking ID to distinguish a record. |
| Booking date | The intake event, which may differ from the original arrest time. |
| Arresting agency | The city, township, state, or county office that made the first report. |
| Booking photo | Displayed by the public locator when available, not guaranteed for every entry. |
| Housing and release data | Current location or scheduled release information that can change quickly. |
| Charges, bond, and court data | Reported booking details that require court verification for final status. |
Treat the listed charges as a starting point, not a final answer. Bond amounts and scheduled release dates shift too. Custody can change when a hold drops, a warrant resolves, a court acts, a transfer happens, or a fresh LEIN check comes back. Oakland County sends specific charge and bond questions to the court of jurisdiction. Remember that. The jail's custody screen and a court file answer two different questions.
- Booking
- The jail intake process that creates a custody record and may include a photograph.
- Arraignment
- An early court hearing where charges and release conditions may be addressed.
- Bond
- A court-set release condition, not a determination of guilt.
- Disposition
- The eventual court outcome, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, or sentence.
Note: The adult locator does not cover juvenile records, and no result from it should be read as evidence of a young person's custody status.
Oakland County Busted Photo Requests
When a public CLEMIS entry is missing, historical, or short a field you need, go the formal route. The Oakland County FOIA Request Center is the official place to start. The Sheriff's Records Unit keeps inmate jail files at 1201 N. Telegraph Road in Pontiac. Reach it at 248-858-5011 or ocsorecords@oakgov.com. The county has no fixed booking-photo fee and no special photo form on file. Ask for a written fee estimate. Don't assume an incident-report price covers it.
- Identify the adult record owner, the person’s full name, date of birth if known, and approximate booking date.
- Ask for the booking record and associated booking photograph as separate record types, with electronic delivery if available.
- Add the arresting agency, inmate or booking number, court, and case number when known.
- Ask the county to identify any exemption or redaction and release nonexempt portions.
- Request a written fee estimate before work begins, then retain the response date and source record.

Oakland County's public FOIA summary asks that written requests be specific enough to actually locate the record. Expect a response within five business days. One extension of up to ten more is allowed. If an estimate runs past $50, the county can require a 50 percent deposit. The timing rule comes from MCL 15.235. One catch is worth knowing. Court documents don't flow through county FOIA. For those, request a certified disposition straight from the court that handled the case.
Oakland Busted Records and Michigan Law
Michigan FOIA opens government records to requesters. It also permits exemptions and redactions. Oakland's booking-photo history includes a 1987 Detroit Free Press case against the Oakland County Sheriff. That ruling backed photo release on the facts before the court. It did not force every photo online. Juvenile confidentiality, sealed files, active investigations, and valid privacy exemptions all still stand. A denial should come with a specific legal reason. A blanket claim that everything is public won't do.
No Michigan law flatly bans private publication of booking photos. None creates a universal free-removal right either. One statute does matter after a dismissal before trial: MCL 28.243 can affect ICHAT and related state arrest data on its own terms. That's separate from wiping out every jail file, news story, cached page, or independent copy. The Michigan Attorney General's Clean Slate information walks through automatic and petition-based set-aside options. Eligibility still rides on the record and the court process involved.
See a wrong, duplicate, dismissed, sealed, or expunged listing on a secondary site? Begin with the official court order or agency correction. RecentlyBooked and Mugshots.com both describe no-fee, documentation-based correction processes in their policies. After the source changes, you can file a search-engine outdated-content request. Neither step promises every copy vanishes. And never mail sensitive papers to an unsolicited middleman who guarantees a fix.
Storage and display run on separate clocks. Michigan General Schedule 11 places mug shots inside jail inmate jackets. The minimum retention is release plus ten years, subject to the applicable schedule and any holds. The state retention schedule doesn't promise an image stays visible online. It just explains why a precise records request often beats a current-roster search for an older booking.
How Oakland County Busted Records Work
Start any Oakland County busted search with the CLEMIS Inmate Locator, the county's public tool for adults currently in custody. It may greet you with a human security checkpoint. That's normal. An error screen or an empty result does not mean the person was never booked, so don't give up at the first blank page. Type the full name first. If the tool offers another identity field, use it, and check the booking date, agency, and court details before trusting any match.
- Check CLEMIS for current adult Oakland County Jail custody and a booking photo when the source displays one.
- If the arrest is recent, contact the arresting city or jail information line because city processing can precede a county record.
- Use the Sheriff’s Records Unit and FOIA route for an older booking, a record not shown online, or a photo request.
- Use the court case path for charges, bond questions, hearing activity, and disposition.
- Move to state, federal, or immigration locators only when the custody facts point to those systems.
Oakland's public jail data comes with a caveat worth remembering. Records can lag by as much as 72 hours. The delay depends on the day of the week. The CLEMIS page may refresh your browser more often than that, but a refreshed screen is not the same as a complete set of bookings. Need answers now? Call Oakland County Jail inmate information at 248-858-1800, or write to prisonerInfo@oakgov.com.
Current custody is only one stage: a person can leave the locator after release, transfer to another system, or remain at a city lock-up before county intake. Confirm the next record with its owner.
Oakland County Mugshot Source Map
Go to official sources first. They tell you who owns the record and what it actually covers. A locator shows present adult custody. A police record names the arresting agency. A court register tracks the case itself. Secondary pages can help you pin down an older date or a news item, but they run stale, incomplete, duplicated, or behind what the county has already published.
| Channel | Photo | Status | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| CLEMIS adult locator | When available | Official | Current Oakland County Jail custody. |
| City police records | On request if held | Official | Initial arrest report or city lock-up record. |
| OCSO Records and FOIA | Request specific record | Official | Booking file, older custody, or missing web record. |
| MDOC OTIS | When available | Official | State prisoner or qualifying supervision record. |
| Local news | Selected stories | Secondary | News context, then agency and court verification. |
| County aggregators | Varies | Unofficial | Date clues only, never current-status proof. |
Several unofficial pages cover Oakland County. RecentlyBooked's Oakland page claims a rolling 30-day view refreshed several times a day. Arrests.org's Oakland archive sorts everything into date pages. Mugshots.com's Oakland directory is legacy coverage reaching back to about 2020, and Oakland County Busts is an older local archive that shows its age. Treat each one as a lead only, and check any hit against CLEMIS, the arresting agency, and the court. No verified Oakland County section exists for Busted Newspaper or Mugshots.zone. Don't plug the gap with another county's results. Correction routes differ by publisher, and they only make sense once the official record has been checked first.
Oakland County Busted Jail Roster
CLEMIS tracks current adult custody at Oakland County Jail. It is not a full arrest history. Detail pages can include the full name, booking photograph when one exists, inmate ID, date of birth, sex or gender, booking date, location, scheduled release, charges, court details, and bond information. The live interface changes, so read a missing field as unavailable rather than filling it in from somewhere else. The official CLEMIS locator entry screen names Oakland County Jail and shows the human security checkpoint that can stand between you and the public roster.
That source screen documents the jail's identity and the conditions of access. It is not a gallery of booking photos, and it is not a list of names.
| Search or result item | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Full name | Start here, then narrow a common name with another official identifier. |
| Inmate ID and date of birth | Use as identity checks and include them in a FOIA request if known. |
| Booking date and location | Confirm the custody event and distinguish it from the arrest time. |
| Booking photo | Read it as a source field only when the official interface displays it. |
| Scheduled release and bond | Check with the court because a future release or bond detail can change. |
A missing photo has a few causes. Processing may be unfinished, the image may be restricted, or the display may have shifted. Someone released also drops off the current custody list. The booking jacket, court case, or city report can still exist apart from that. The adult locator has more blind spots. It skips Children's Village, state prison custody, BOP custody, and ICE detention. So never read an adult result as a juvenile status. Note: Oakland's public CLEMIS interface shows current custody, not a minute-by-minute booking or release clock.
Oakland Booking Feed Windows
No official sheriff feed carries labels like same-day, 24-hour, 48-hour, or weekly booking photos in Oakland County. CLEMIS sometimes lists a recently processed booking. Even so, the county's own 72-hour warning means the tool is no daily arrest log. That gap matters. A fresh arrest can sit in a city facility, walk free before county intake, or lag out of the public view for a stretch.
| Time frame | Official Oakland path | Useful alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Same day | CLEMIS after processing, with possible lag. | Ask the arresting agency where the person was lodged. |
| 24 to 72 hours | Current custody locator, not an archive. | City records, selected official releases, and court routing. |
| Weekly activity | No county named photo table. | Troy Crime Summary and Farmington Hills event releases. |
| Historical date | FOIA and jail record request. | City records, court case, retention series, then archives. |
City sources help, but each one works differently. Troy posts a recurring Crime Summary with counts by category, not names or photos. Farmington Hills leans on event-based police releases. Those may include selected arrest details. Pontiac's contracted OCSO division routes report requests to OCSO Records. None of these pages substitutes for another. A secondary site's claimed refresh time never makes it a county feed.
Oakland County DOC Offender Photos
The Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS search covers a different custody stage. State prisoners appear there. So do people under qualifying MDOC supervision and those inside its post-supervision window. It is not an Oakland County jail roster. A person only arrested, held in a city lock-up, awaiting trial, serving a county sentence, or never in MDOC custody may correctly show no OTIS result. OTIS can return a name, MDOC number, status, supervision and location details, offense or sentence data, and a photo when one exists. Match the record by name plus date of birth, or by MDOC number. Missing a specific state record there? Use MDOC's official records process instead of assuming the county jail owns it. Federal and immigration paths run separate too. The Bureau of Prisons locator reports federal status and location, with no routine public booking-photo feed. The ICE Online Detainee Locator finds custody locations, not booking photos. Each system brings its own search fields and privacy limits.
Oakland County Busted Release Paths
Where a person sits in the process shapes which record you need. Someone in current custody shows up on one roster. Release, state custody, and federal detention each point to a different system. So when a person moves or gets out, stop repeating the same search. Move to the next logical system instead.
| Custody stage | Where the record may live | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| City arrest or initial lock-up | Arresting city report, records unit, or city FOIA route. | That county intake has already occurred. |
| Current adult county custody | CLEMIS and Oakland County Jail information. | Final court outcome or all past arrests. |
| Released from county custody | FOIA booking request, city file, and court register. | That the record was erased or expunged. |
| Sentenced or supervised by Michigan | OTIS and MDOC records path. | That OTIS is the original county booking record. |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP, ICE, federal court, or holding agency. | That CLEMIS will contain the record. |
A scheduled outdate is not the same as walking out the door. Holds can delay it. Warrants, detainers, a LEIN check, a transfer, or a court order can each change the final custody outcome. The roster status shows only what the agency reports right now. Treat it as current evidence, never a promise about tomorrow.
Oakland Court Records After Booking
Booking wraps up and the case moves to the courts. Arraignment comes first. Bond decisions, probable-cause proceedings, a plea, a dismissal, trial, sentencing, or another result may follow. The Oakland County Court Explorer shows party details and registers of action for Circuit and Probate Court material, though the county cautions it is not the official record. MiCOURT covers participating trial courts as well. Need a certified order or a record the web lacks? Contact the court of record directly.
News stories and booking descriptions land early. A reported charge may be amended, reduced, dropped, resolved by plea, or rejected outright. The court record settles the question. That habit keeps Oakland County records accurate and keeps an old photo from passing as a final outcome.
Question: If a person leaves CLEMIS, is the case over? Answer: Not necessarily. Departure can mean release, transfer, a data update, or another custody path, so check the court record and the responsible agency first.
Oakland County Busted Alerts
The Oakland County Sheriff mobile app puts alerts, public resources, most-wanted listings, records links, inmate information, and anonymous tip tools on your phone. It works well for alerts and quick lookups. Just don't treat it as a full booking-photo feed. The county never presents it that way. For current adult custody, CLEMIS remains the source of record.
VINE is separate. That service runs around the clock for victims and subscribers who want custody or case notifications. It sends alerts, not public photo lists. Social posts from official accounts can flag selected public-safety events, but those change often and leave gaps. For anything durable, go back to the original agency, the jail locator, the records unit, or the court.
Oakland Busted Mugshots by City
City paths in Oakland County split at the very first record. Troy runs its own police lock-up and publishes a recurring Crime Summary. No daily named photo roster exists there, though. Farmington Hills keeps an initial lock-up too. Unless bond gets posted, detainees move to the county jail after arraignment. Pontiac works differently. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office provides contracted police service there, so a Pontiac arrest record may begin as an OCSO division report before it enters the county jail system.
- Troy Busted Mugshots: city lock-up, police records, FOIA portal, and weekly activity summaries.
- Farmington Hills Busted Mugshots: local lock-up, transfer rule, press releases, and police FOIA route.
- Pontiac Busted Mugshots: OCSO contracted policing, county records, and 50th District Court routing.
For a wanted listing or a warrant concern, lean on the county's Wanted Fugitives resource plus the issuing court or official agency. Oakland arrest news sources help too, since they keep news coverage separate from the official record path.
